My name is Matthew Hanson and I am a photography/art teacher at Howard High School in Ellicott City, Maryland. I feel like I have the best job in the world. Everyday I inspire others and teach kids the same art form that I am so passionate about. 

My photographs are a reflection of  my life. Some people have journals or diaries, I have my work. My photographs are memories from specific times and places in my life. Being a photographer that works in the darkroom, I develop a connection with my photographs as I spend hours working on every one. As I process and develop each image, it evokes for me the time and place where that photograph was taken. I am able to reflect on what I was thinking and feeling when I captured that specific image as well as the impact that particular place and time has made on my life.
